Report: Turner extends AMC stay

Late last year, it was widely hinted that All My Children's resident English heartthrob, Aiden Turner (Aidan Devane), had decided that he would be leaving the show when his contract expired. Now, as the month of May winds down, so too, are the days left in Turner's contract.

Reports surfaced last year that Turner was suffering for a bout of homesickness for his native land. It was that longing for home and a marked drop in storyline that may have made the actor question his future with the ABC soap. Now, however, comes word that actor has signed his name on the dotted line and will be sticking around for some time to come.

Turner, a central character since debuting on All My Children in June 2002, saw his on-screen time cut short last year when his on-screen love interest, Natalia Cigliuti (Anita Santos), took time off for maternity leave. During her away time, Turner's character was relegated to a holding pattern and saw little on-screen time. Cigliuti was let go from the show last month.

Now, All My Children's writers have invested ink in penning a love story between Turner's character and newcomer Connie Fletcher (Erin Lavery). The addition of Marcus Patrick (Jamal Cudahy) to the cast as a possible foil in an impending love triangle will also insure that Turner continues to see face time on the show.

ABC does not comment on contracts.
