Shannon Kane declines to renew AMC contract

All My Children will lose a Kane in 2011. Actress Shannon Kane has opted not to renew her contract with All My Children. The actress, who joined AMC in 2008, has recently landed several high-profile movie roles.

As hinted in a blind item posted on Soap Central last month, Shannon Kane (Natalia Fowler) will exit All My Children next month. The actress has opted not to renew her contract with the ABC soap.

In recent months, Kane has been off-screen more often than she's appeared on-screen -- and that's been due to her growing film career. Kane's big break came in 2009, when she was cast in the memorable role of Chantel, a prostitute involved in an unusual relationship with Richard Gere's character, in the movie Brooklyn's Finest. In the upcoming months she'll appear on the silver screen in S.W.A.T. and Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family.

Co-head writer Donna Swajeski tells ABC Soaps In Depth that the show will continue to write for Natalia because the actress "is going to come back and forth to the show" while working on her career outside of daytime television.

All My Children has now lost two relative newcomers in the last two months. In December, Finn Wittrock (Damon Miller) passed on signing a new contract with All My Children.

Kane joined All My Children in October 2008 as the there-to-unknown daughter of Jesse Hubbard, a child he'd fathered during the 20-odd years he was believed to have been dead.

Kane makes her AMC farewell when Natalia leaves Pine Valley on February 4.
